Natural White Cedar has natural preservatives that protects the wood from decay, insects and rotting. If left unfinished this wood will age to a silky, silvery gray surface.

The buying guide is inaccurate. The one I purchased based on the buying guide was much too large for my dog. In fact, it was too large to fit into my truck to drive home. Shipping is also difficult. The shipping company they use required that I stay home until 3:00 pm for the delivery. Since I can't miss a day of work to wait at home for the delivery of a dog house, I had it re-routed to my work place. That's when I found out it's too large to fit into my trunk. I bought the size they recommended, but that recommendation was inaccurate. The return shipping fee is $160, so basically I lost $160 on this attempt.

This is a good, sturdy doghouse. Well put together. I have to admit I didn't realize it would be shipped in one piece!!! It had two small problems due to shipping, but it was nothing I couldn't make slight repairs to. Other than that, very pleased.

It is easy to assemble and looks great. I am going to finish the interior walls so the dogs do not have to lay against studs as the wood is splintery. I am also going to add more insulation. I live in the Pacific Northwest and rain is a huge issue so I am going to use KILZ on the outside and paint it; then add shingles to the roof. I am sure she will like it once I get done with my improvements. This doghouse is a great start and I sure could not have built it from scratch. I am glad I can modify it to suit me and my dogs.
