This is a sweet piece of furniture, i bought it because it looks really nice. The design alone makes your backyard look like you spent a lot of money on it, especially if you have dogs or cats. My chihuahuas rest inside of it when its windy or when my 3 yr old wants to chase them. I cut rug pieces on the stairs because otherwise they wont use it, but since i did that they now use the top to sun bathe. Its great!
Only issue is that the stairs if you need to move it, will come loose which means it'll tear the side. just drill some extra holes into the side so stairs stay in place.
Oh, it smells of a minty cedar, but it goes away after a week of being outside.

I loved this dog house for the looks. Unfortunately my dogs chewed it to pieces. I didn't know they could eat so much wood. Also the steps needed carpet to block the holes so they would walk up to the balcony. I'd recommend it for small dogs that don't chew.

i have a 5 pound Morkie... he is a little shy about new things, so he is having to warm up to the new addition to our home... after day 2, he was going in and napping on his own inside his new "condo", after i put his favorite blanket inside it... the steps to the balcony are too steep, so i have to physically set him up there and take him down. the house smells great with fresh cedar, and looks very nice on hardwood floors... super easy to build too!

I bought this for my Yorkie (7 lbs.) and the set up was pretty simple. If you have an electric screw driver it will save you a lot of time and make the set up a lot easier overall. At first my dog would not go up the stairs. I spent time working with her and now she can go up the stairs! Although she does not go up by herself, she only goes up if I put a treat up there; but I'm hoping she will go up by herself eventually. She doesn't use the stairs to get down, she just jumps off. I figured if it came to it I would just remove the stairs and prop up a pillow for her to go up and down. I have a pillow that she sometimes uses as a ramp to get on and off the couch, even though she usually just jumps. I put one of her dog beds in the bottom portion of the house and she goes in there all the time :) You may have to train your dog to use the little dog stairs if they are not used to them, but overall I'm happy with this purchse. I don't know how this house would do outside, I will only have it inside for my dog.

I bought this for my cat she likes to sit outside in the Winter watching things around her, so I thought this would be great for that so she will be warm inside.
On nicer days she can sit on on the top to get sunshine!!!!
