We bought this house 2 yrs ago for a dog we do not own but she chooses to stay around our yard because we make sure she is fed and we take her to the vet. She is a lab/golden retriver mix and she loves this house. After 2 yrs. the house still looks practically new. I was sceptical due to the light weight feel of the fir wood. So glad it proved me wrong.

First I have to say I would definately buy this product again. With that said, you must know the boards on the bottom where the dog would lay down do not touch each other so there are "air gaps" between each board that are definately not ideal for cold weather. If you are handy with construction materials, it can be modified for your specific needs. We are in a cold climate so purchased this dog house with the intention of fully insulating it anyway. If you are primarily looking for shelter from the sun or rain, it is perfect as is. My 14 year old son assembled this dog house without needing much assistance from me.
