After spending countless hours reviewing dog houses, I've narrowed it down to Boomer & George Log Cabin Dog House vs. Precision Extreme Outdoor Dog House. I went with the B&G house because it is made of wood and because I like the looks of it. The dog house was not purchased for a dog but for a 25 lb. "mini-bulldozer" adult Sulcata tortoise and a 10 lb Red Foot tortoise. If you know anything about Sulcatas, they are curious creatures and are rough riders, rampaging through anything that gets in their way. Suffice to say, the tortoises made themselves at home almost immediately after putting the dog house to use and as rough as they are, the house is sturdy enough, heavy enough and strong enough to keep stationary while providing a sense of security for the tortoises to enjoy. When removing the pieces out of the Hayneedle, Inc. box for the very first time, they feel very flimsy and I initially thought it wouldn't take the abuse of the tortoises. However, after everything is assembled, it is clear that the B&G dog house is quality stuff built to withstand the weather and designed to last. I like how the roof is hinged and can be lifted for easy clean-up and the floor board, comprising of 3 individual pieces, can be removed for cleaning. Assembly shouldn't take more than 20 minutes with manual labor but it took me about 45 minutes because the tortoises wouldn't leave me or the dog house parts alone during the assembly process!

First of all, the pieces weren't in perfect condition. A couple of areas were cracked but seemed to be in places where it wouldn't make a different. One of the present screws would not stay in place.
As far as assembly, it was relatively easy to assemble. But I found the instructions were lacking. The images were very small and light. I am not the best at assembling things like this and when it came time to attach the roof, I was having some difficulty. I would have helped to have had a good drawing. I figured it out eventually.

Not only was shipping dead on, the instructions for assembly was spot on! I was and am surprised that they took the time to label theparts so well. when i went to look for parts "A" the small bags were labeled as well. The holes for assembly were clearly marked and unmistakable! I have ordered many things off of the internet that required assemble but I have never had such an easy time assembling an item. Who ever designed this dog house and the instructions must have taken the time to make sure the instructions were clear, easy to understand and idiot proof! That is what defines a superior product experience. Please teach this attention to detail to the rest of the internet. I will be buying from you again!

This dog house is very attractive but the wood is not sturdy, especially the floor. The roof is weather resistant and the actual dog house was very easy to assemble. My only fear is that if my German Shepherd gets any bigger I believe the floor will eventually give in.I would recommend others to purchase but if you can find something with a firmer floor, I would choose it first.

It is beauitiful looking dog house and suits my needs perfectly. I live in Vegas so it's main purpose is for some shade for my inside dog when she goes out and plays. I have yet had the chance to test it against weather. Some of the patch work for the nails used during its construction was a bit poorly done and that's why it lost a star for me. It is a bit on a thin side I don't think it makes the structure weak but I'd be interested to see how it stands up to a dog that would use it heavily. Overall I am happy with my purchase.

Smells great when you open it. Seems a bit flimsy and the wood was chipping off while we assembled it. Not sure how long it will last? Looks nice though.

The dog house arrived on time, my poochy loves it and it smells of pine; upon arrival the assembly instructions were very easy to follow and construction was about 15-20 minutes.
