Attractive and easy to assemble. I placed it on a slightly elevated, turf-covered wood base and plan on adding a porch and insulation for more protection in severe weather, but this is great for mild weather just as it is. Because my dogs live outdoors, it's really important to me to provide them with a safe, comfortable shelter. Very pleased with my purchase!

Beautiful dog house, I read the previous buyer's reviews ( I should have heeded them ).
I thought this would be a perfect dog house for my two Golden Retrievers, because of the design and size. There were very few other dog houses (I searched the internet for days)that would fit the bill.
It was easy to assemble, and looked beautiful - - for a couple of hours. My dogs, who have never chewed any other woodwork or furniture, almost totally destroyed it.
The wood is very soft cedar (smells nice) but it is too soft to function as a dog house material. The only wood I have ever seen that was softer is BALSA, ( for model airplanes ).
I am a woodworker, and I regret that I didn't build my own doghouse.
The cost of this dog house is outrageous for the quality (lack there-of). It might as well have been made out of cardboard.
I'm thinking the only way to turn this into something other than a total waste of money is to use the disassembled dog house as a pattern for cutting exterior grade plywood panels. I can rebuild the dog house, improve it structurally and paint it.
Design looks good, but the construction was FLIMSY, mostly due to the use of soft wood.

Comments about Dark Stain Duplex Dog House:
Overall this is a goodlooking dog house, I am concerned with the long term durability of the product, the wood is very thin. If I were keep my dogs outdoors the majority of the time I would definitly insult it. Very simple to assemble, took us 30min. I would recommend this product.

just put together the product tody - it took about 1 hour. the product is of good quality although some of the screw holes did not align and we had to drill a new hole. Other than that, assembly was easy.

Comments about Dark Stain Duplex Dog House:
We have a 120 lb bull mastif & 16 lb jack russel. We needed to get a house that would fit both. We researched online and even priced all the materials to build our own. We found that for about the same price we could buy this house.
My husband put it together by himself with a screw driver. It ships in 3 boxes. It comes in premade panels - 1 front (complete with the plastic doors already attached), 2 sides, 1 back, 2 roof, 2 floor, divider, and the feet & screws. He just left out the divider that comes with it & both dogs love it. It is also light weight once assembled.
The mastif has do duck down a tiny bit to go in, but it is spacious enough for her, the jack, & an orthopedic bed to fit comfortably inside.
It is solid wood & probably needs a coat of sealer if it will be exposed to the elements. Also, it isn't insulated. So for colder climates, you would definitely need to look into that. We are going to get heating pads for the winter here.

Q1: Is this a good for all weather?
A: This dog house will hold up in all weather, including rain.
Q2: Can this house be built with 1 door and no center divider wall?
A: The wooden panel for the doors already comes pre-cut so it has to have the two doors. The divider wall can be removed to make the dog house one open space.
Q3: Do we need to assemble it? How insulated is it for winter nights for 2 dogs (Aussie shepherd and border collie size)? With the partition removed, can the dogs sleep together? What is the length, width, height?
A: Yes, you will need to assemble the dog house. There is no insulation, but we do sell a space heater for doghouses. The partition is removable, so the dogs can sleep together. Dimensions are - External (overall house): 73L x 39W x 42H inches; Internal (on each side): 30L x 30W x 40H inches; and
Door Opening (on each side): 18W x 24H inches.
Q4: What kind of wood is used? Is the unit lockable?
A: This is a Fir wood. This model does not have a lock.
