Right now we keep the house on our deck because of the snow on the backyard. I was amazed when we got 8 inches of snow and no snow came in. I purchsed seperately a plastic dog door flap as well for extra protection becauase I live in Illinois. It has not gotten wet once inside. We like to watch our dog sit on it's very own porch and watch the rain and snow fall without getting wet. My dog loved to go in there when she would rather just have time to herself outside yet in her own place she can call her own. We also put a set of dog dishes on the porch because they are protected from the weather as well. We love it and my Dog loves it! I get strangers and neighbors coming by lately asking me where I got it and how cool the design is, and how amazing it is on how far they have come with Dog houses alone. I could not have picked a better house for my dog...and so cost effective!!People thought we paid so much more than we did. My husband says I spoil my dog (ROXY) giving her a home like this. There is NO SUCH THING is what I say! Roxy deserves the Best and she got the best in my eyes.

To beging with. It took forever for them to ship this doghouse. At first they only sent one box (it comes in 2 boxes). The quality of the wood is very poor and has already split in several places while setting it up. It's advertised that the doghouse has a removable roof (this is not true) unless you take out all the screws. I wouldn't recomend that as it's difficult to figure out how to get the roof pieces back on. All in all it's a nice looking doghouse but not of very good quality. I think I got ripped off big time but I'll live with it. I most likely won't be shopping here again. Sorry doghouses.com, you just don't cut it.

This dog house is great looking for a great price. The only concern I had was some of the pieces had been broken in the box but I was able to make it work.

Whoever said you could put this together in 20 minutes must have never put one together. It took my husband and son about 2 hours. The holes would not line up in many places, especially the roof. The screws were too short to hold the boards together properly. Then when it rained my 14 year old lab got soaking wet and cold. We then had to cover the roof and porch with shingles. It is cute but cost WAY too much for the quality of materials. I wish I had bought a plastic dog house with a roof that would not leak.

I am really pleased with the Barn Dog House....I am using it for some stray cats in my yard so thdy have shelter(they already have plenty of food)...Very roomy, well designed.....Love the covered porch...My husband and my brother had it together in 30 minutes....Even they liked the design....

Whoever said it could be put together in 20 minutes must have not put one together. Took my husband and son over 1 1/2 hours. The holes would not line up and the screws were not long enough in many places to hold it together. Finally got longer screws and finished it. Looks cute now but I'm worried if it will keep the rain out . The roof is where they had so much trouble fitting it together properly. If I had it to do over, I would buy a plastic dog house that I know would keep the rain out. Also had poor directions.

This dog house is probably not sturdy enough for a big dog (over 50 pounds) without some reinforcements. Pretty easy to assemble by one person. Think through how all the holes align, however. It will save a bit of time undoing them. Cleaning the inside of the house will not be easy, but I will figure something out. I put a water sealer on the roof. Plan to paint the body of the house. I don't think it wills tand up to sitting on damp ground for a long time without some extra help.
