This dog house is pretty good. We have a male golden retriever and it has plenty of room for him to go inside and spread out. The insulator "hot dog" kit is really worth getting. It fits the house perfectly and vel-cro's tightly into the house. It has about a 3/4 inch thick pad for the floor that is covered in a canvas material. The 4 walls have the same material to insulate the house. It significantly helps to keep the cold out and makes it way more comfortable to lay in. The wood is pretty thin for the overall house, but it seemed to hold together even when I got inside with the dog so it will hold at least 200 pounds. The hinge top is a great feature. If your dog gets something it's not supposed to have, they might run into their dog house to get away from you. If you can't open the top, you'll be crawling in the door after them! With this house, its easy to open the top, lock it open with the two locking hinges, and reach inside. The patio is nice for a couple reasons. Our dog likes to lay with his body inside the house and his arms and head outside. The patio is the same height as the bottom of the house so it makes it comfortable for the dog to lay half in the house and halv on the patio. Without the patio there would be about a 3" step out of the house to the ground which would be uncomfortable to lay over. The dog would have to lay either all the way inside, or all the way outside. The patio also provides a place to lay outside but up off the ground. The house was packaged well keeping all parts pressed together with paper in between to prevent warping. The parts fit together fine and there were no problems or modifications needed to put the house together. [...]I would reccommend this to someone else to buy.

I bought this house to use in my kennel for my female Collie. The dog house is really classy looking and easy to assemble. It didn't last long though, as the wood is soft and the house is not sturdy enough for an active, energetic dog. My Collie chewed through much of the decorative trim and the 3 piece floor always comes apart and needs to be screwed into place (this is not in the instructions either). The feet on the house and deck are flimsy and do not stand up to the dog jumping off and on. Would recommend this only be used for older, less active dogs who need shelter in an enclosed yard or kennel. On the plus side, the house is very attractive and would look good on a porch or even in a sunroom.

We purchased this for our new puppy last September 2011. It was easy to put together & we loved the design & found it attractive. However, it was constructed very flimsy. The house is falling over and we haven't even owned it for a year. My dog loves the house but we are afraid that it will fall over. After spending hundreds of dollars on a cedar house ... we now have to purchase a new one ...very disappointing!

Great little dog house! Perfect size for my 2 mini dachshunds. They couldn't wait to climb right in. I'm very pleased with it & love that the roof lifts up for easy cleaning!!!
