When i fist set the house up, my dog was like "what is that?" And then when i saw the house the next day, he somewhat chewed up the sides of the entrance of the house. But he rarely goes inside his house, so hopefully, it's a matter of time & he'll start going inside

It's a nice looking dog house and very easy to put together, I ordered the XXL and it is not quite as roomy as I thought it would be, the floor is a little flimsy for my dog, I have a 115 pound Lab and I do not think it is quite sturdy enough for him.

Whoever designed this dog house really put some thought into it. It's put together really well and setting it up is easy. If you buy the doggie door, insulation, and patio. Make sure you put in the insulation prior to attaching the roof. My dog was unsure of the house at first but once I put her doggie bed in there she went right in. I love the quality of the wood!! It smells wonderful when you open the box. I am very happy with this purchase. The only thing that I had to do some minor repair was the ridge cap. It was cracked along the line of where they glued it together. I used clear chalk in the thin crack and you can't even notice it.

When our package arrived, we were excited as we have ordered several quality items in the past from Hayneedle; this was NOT one of them. There was a crack down the side of one of the main frames, my husband decided to glue it thinking this would be the only damaged piece. As he soon discovered, several pieces in the "kit" were damaged (split/cracked several inches) and he had to spend a great deal of time repairing what should have been our brand new dog house. When completed, it still looks great and I'm sure our brand new puppy won't know the difference when we pick him up next week. Let's hope it performs in our harsh CO winters. It does appear to be sturdy, well designed and should be a good size for our Golden Lab as he grows up. Despite the poor condition of the unassembled house, it did turn out to be quite the charmer upon completion.

I bought this for our Yorkie and it's the perfect size. So easy to put together and looks great in our back yard. Our guy was a little shy to go inside at first but after he figured out it was "his" place - he seems pretty content with it. The porch is a great addition because we were able to put his bowls up without obstructing the door and leaving ample room to move around, lay down, whatever he wants. We're happy with it!

Quality seems to be OK, but some parts arrived broken and the directions were a little difficult to follow since some areas didn't have pre-drilled holes.

Q1: Is the roof or one side of the roof removable?
