8 years that little crate is so Sturdy, it has been used and abused, no dents scratches and I always feel my dogs are very secure in it.
They have gone to just about every kind of dog show enviroment and still maintain a decent appearance.
Not sure about this new vari kennel i just purchased, time will tell. I immediately noticed
the flimsy shell and am not confident I can be as
rough with these new ones as I am with the old ones.
I do like there fresh light ash green appearance.Hope they will maintain years of use.
One thing I notice but, not a great big deal, both crates had some globs of plastic that I removed from them kind of what glue guns do after one uses them.
All in all, am semi satisfied with this product.
I would perfer that this product was just a tad
sturdier for the kind of use that I do, but, it is
still a good product for general purpose.

The price is great, [...]. I am only concerned at it's possible fragility. It is not a heavy plastic, perhaps sue to airline weight restrictions? I am leery of carrying with handle only with my Bug inside. Aside form this, it is perfect for home, car etc.... Our cat and puppy share it during the day.. with the door open.

We have a 5/6-yr old Vari Kennel Jr. and it's great. Strong molded plastic, well-supported handle, locks very clear and tight, altogether reassuring that you won't have a disaster. This product (and another ordered in the large size) were supposed to be the same carrier, albeit slightly revised (e.g., some change in measurements)and the style was a bit changed. Unfortunately, the core quality was left out as well. The plastic is much softer throughout, the locks are insecure as a result, the fit is less crisp and the handle has been changed to a much less secure construction which also puts stress on the locks when you actually lift the carrier. (And no we didn't put an oversize animal in - each held a 11-13 pound cat which is within specs.) I had to take all three to a vet appointment so hoped for the best but ended up carrying these two carriers from underneath to be safe, ended up duct-taping the intermediate because where one of the locks was uncertain, the crate tried to come apart and when they returned the cats the vet mentioned that the handle on the larger carrier was really questionable. Between having tossed the packing materials and the use made of these carriers, I'm not optimistic that they're returnable. If so, I will pass them along to somebody doing rescue transports with tiny kittens that weigh nothing and don't mind going in and out through the door (the point of this model having been to be able to unlock the top and avoid the wrestling through door issues with full-grown cats). Sorry to be this harsh but I was thoroughly aggravated by the lack of quality.

Overall this is a good product for the price.
I would have given it 5 stars but one of the side knobs is slightly askew, and when pushed from inside it separates the top from the bottom at that spot.
Fortunately my 12 pound rescued Chinese Crested doesn't have the power to push it apart, and I just use it at night for her to sleep in on top my nightstand to keep her safe from wandering through the bedroom in the dark past my 70 pound half blind rescued senior greyhound.
The color is a REALLY BRIGHT seafoam green (which I happen to like) but the photo makes it look really subdued.

It came damaged, 2 sides with a large crack. Poor quality control in the shipping department!!
