Description

Keep your outdoor pet warm, dry, and comfortable all winter long with this efficient dog house heater. The Hound Heater Dog House Furnace can heat a well-insulated dog house up to 32 cubic feet, but it can also heat small dog houses. This heater is powered by a long-lasting, non-replaceable, 150-watt heating element. The thermo-sensing bulb in the base of the heater allows for accurate control of the temperature in your pet's house. The 100,000-cycle life thermostat is very accurate and adjusts from 30-100 degrees Fahrenheit. Because it only runs when needed, this thermostatically controlled heater will help save money compared to heaters that run continually. Once the pre-set temperature has been reached, it will turn off and on to keep your pet warm and dry.

 

This outstanding pet house furnace is equipped with several precautionary features to ensure the safety of your pet and the dog house. A top heat shield disperses heat efficiently and protects the ceiling from excessive heat exposure The internal heat shield allows your pet to lean or lie directly against the lower half of the unit without danger of getting burned. (Please follow safe installation instructions.) The rounded exterior of the heater has no sharp edges, which will keep your pet safe from bumps or cuts.

 

The Hound Heater Dog House Furnace was designed so the electrical cord is not accessible to your pet. Feed the cord through a drilled hole during installation and plug it into a GFI outlet outside of the house. That way, your pet has no access to the cord while inside the dog house. No assembly is required. Simply mount the heather on a pet house wall using the pre-drilled screw holes that line the sides. Once it's mounted, plug it in, set the thermostat, and let the heater surround your pet with comfortable heat. Please note: The Hound Heater must never be mounted on the ceiling.

WE ARE HAVING A HORRIFIC RAIN STORM AND THE TURTLES ARE STAYING DRY AND WARM. I DID A LOT OF RESEARCH FOR A HEATER. WE HAVE ONLY USED IT FOR A FEW WEEKS, BUT SO FAR, IT IS GREAT!!!
THE ONLY NEGATIVE WOULD BE THE DESIGN. THE TURTLES BOTH CUDDLE UNDERNEATH THE DEVICE. A LONGER, NARROW DEVICE WOULD BE IDEA, THEN THE WHOLE HOUSE COULD BE UTILIZE AND NOT JUST THE ONE SIDE.

Heater seems of good quality and the technical support is excellent. One phone call and you get straight to the inventor of the product!

However, the element only warms 30 degrees warmer than the coldest temperature here (-13 degrees only warmed to 22 degrees) in a mid-sized doghouse. Insulating doghouse may be necessary for good results.

The thermostat dial was not accurate (it was "off" by 20-30 degrees), so I had to manually guess the desired temperature by turning it until the heat shut off at the desired temperature.

Overall, it is a good quality unit, although I wish it could heat better in the colder climates.

        I purchased a medium size doghouse and insulated it with 3R foam board. I also added a dog door that is designed for a standard house door to seal the entry. I installed a remote thermometer to monitor the temperature in the house. With the hound heater set on medium, the temperature would increase to 80 degrees and then shut off until the temperature dropped to 50 degrees (took about 50 minutes). Then it would heat up to 80 degrees again. I tried different settings and the temperature would still swing about 30 degrees from the time the heater kicked in until it stopped again. I am returning the heater for a replacement to see if the large temperature swing is just a defect in the unit I received.

        Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

            The owner of Akoma Dog Products assured my this unit would fit in a DP Hunter dog house. After ordering it and trying to mount it, I discovered it will NOT fit. It is too big to reinstall the roof on the dog house. He would not refund my return charges even though the item was misrepresented. This product is too big for small dog houses.

            Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

              A: It is recommended to have 2 inches on the sides and 3 inches from the top or ceiling of the place you may install it.

              A: This item has been tested to work as low as -15 Fahrenheit degrees.
